Blue Ridge Joins Telemedicine Network
May 25th, 2011 2:07 PM
Blue Ridge, Georgia is the latest area to join ROC's growing network of telemedicine sites. On Thursday, May 26, the first patients will be seen at Fannin Regional Hospital in Blue Ridge. The telemedicine program allows patients to be seen in their hometown areas rather than having to travel to ROC's offices in Chattanooga. A ROC physician located in Chattanooga uses the latest video and audio technology to provide top level care to the patient in the remote facility. With Blue Ridge, ROC now has nine telemedicine sites in operation with several others scheduled to be added within the next year. ROC welcomes the partnership with Fannin Regional Hospital and the obstetricians in that area as we work together to provide the best health care possible to mothers and babies in the growing region served by ROC physicians.

Roads Open to ROC
May 10th, 2011 9:42 AM
Update -- 4:30 p.m. May 10 -- While demolition crews work to remove debris from the nearby collapsed building, all roads except Park Avenue are now open.
Original Story: The collapse of an old, vacant building on McCallie Avenue near ROC's Chattanooga office building on the morning of Tuesday, May 10, has caused the closing by the police department of McCallie Avenue and Park Avenue, the two main streets leading to ROC's office building. Traffic police at McCallie and Central and at Park and Eighth will help patients get to ROC's parking area if you identify yourself as a ROC patient. If you have any difficulty, please call ROC at 423-664-4460 and we will assist you. It is unknown how long the streets will be closed. Posted at 11 a.m. May 10

ROC Goes Paperless
January 31st, 2011 3:35 PM
During February, 2011, ROC will “go live” with a new electronic medical record system that will eliminate paper medical charts and will enable ROC physicians, nurses, and billing personnel to more efficiently handle medical records. The new system is provided by Greenway Medical, Inc., and is designed to make ROC compliant with new federal standards that encourage more efficiency in the healthcare industry. ROC is one of the first Maternal Fetal Medicine practices in the nation to convert to electronic medical records.

Blairsville Joins ROC’s Expanding Network
January 31st, 2011 3:31 PM
ROC is proud to announce the addition of Blairsville, Georgia, to its growing list of rural areas being served by ROC’s telemedicine network. In mid-January, Blairsville became the sixth telemedicine site served by ROC.
Telemedicine provides ROC patients the opportunity to stay in their local communities while still receiving medical care from a ROC physician. Through the program, which has received national recognition, a ROC nurse and sonographer visit the telemedicine site, while a doctor at ROC’s main office in Chattanooga provides care via high-speed, high-definition video connections. The doctor and patient see each other as if they are in the same room, talk to each other, and the doctor can examine at ultrasound scans and other data as it is transmitted live.
The Blairsville telemedicine clinic is being operated in cooperation with Union General Hospital and the local obstetricians. It is located in the Blue Mountain Family Practice Building adjacent to Union General Hospital. The clinic operates the second and fourth Thursdays of every month.
For more information, please contact Debbie Lance, Director of Telemedicine, at 423-664-4460, or 1-866-4HI-RISK.

Reception Room Waits
January 31st, 2011 3:28 PM
At ROC, we are always mindful of the time it takes between check-in and when patients are seen by a doctor. We’re patients, too, and we don’t like to sit and wait either. We’re trying our best to keep your waiting time to a minimum. Unfortunately, because of the nature of the medical services we provide, we sometimes experience a backlog. Our goal is to keep your wait to 15 minutes or less, and usually we meet that goal. But if you do experience a problem of having to wait for longer periods, let us know. And be assured, we’re aware of your wait time and are doing everything possible to keep your wait to a minimum.
And speaking of waits . . . the week of February 7, three of our doctors – Drs. Adair, Torres, and Roberts – will attend the annual meeting of the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine. This gathering is important to our doctors, giving them an opportunity to visit their peers and discuss the latest developments in maternal fetal care. Because the doctors will be out of town, we’ll be operating at a reduced doctor load during the week, and, yes, your wait time might be a bit longer than usual. But we’ll have plenty of doctors available and they will be working hard to accommodate the needs of all of our patients.
